7 Top Tips on How to Make Your Hair Grow Faster
Growing long hair is easy for some, but for the rest of us it takes time and a lot more effort! We get many clients walking into our hairdressers in Hitchin and asking our stylists “how can I make my hair grow faster?”
Whilst the average person’s hair grows at a rate of half an inch per month, there are things you can do to try and stimulate growth.
Here are 7 top tips on how to make your hair grow faster from our team of stylists in our hairdressers in Hitchin:
1. Get regular trims… yes you read that correctly!
Many people think that if they are trying to grow their hair, they don’t need to go to their hairdressers in Hitchin as often – incorrect! Whilst haircuts don’t actually make your hair grow faster, they are crucial to get rid of split ends that break your hair. Split ends can lead to your hair losing length, and shine, volume and smoothness for that matter. Visit here to book your next trim at our hair salon in Hitchin.
2. Use conditioner every time you shampoo.
Your hair strands will tend to get thinner at the bottom from colour, heat styling and just because they’re the oldest part of your hair. Conditioner will help to prevent more damage to your hair by replacing the lipids and proteins inside the hair shaft. If you are unsure what conditioner is best for your hair, ask one of our team at our hairdressers in Hitchin.
3. Eat the right foods.
Having healthy long hair not only depends on what products you put on the outside, but also what you put into your body. Protein is particularly important to include regularly in your diet as it has been observed that more shedding of hair occurs in people that don’t consume enough protein. Here are some delicious foods that are high in protein and that you should include regularly in your diet: eggs, fish, nuts, chicken breast, oats, milk, broccoli and whole grains.
4. Cut down on the use of heat styling tools.
Most of us use heat to style our hair, and there’s nothing wrong with that! However, over using heat styling tools can damage your hair and cause it to break more easily. Try decreasing the temperature of your heat styling tool and always use a heat protectant. Ask one of our stylists in our hairdressers in Hitchin for recommendations on heat protectants and heat styling tools.
5. Massage your scalp. Massaging your scalp promotes blood flow to the area, which in turn stimulates the hair follicles, resulting in hair growth! Gently rub your fingers on your scalp in a circular motion for three to five minutes, it helps to apply oil or conditioner to your hair too. After the time is up, rinse the oil and conditioner out to ensure your hair doesn’t become greasy.
6. Be careful when brushing wet hair.
When your hair is wet, it is more susceptible to breakage. It is best to avoid using a paddle brush when your hair is wet, and opt for a wide toothed comb instead. This will help you get through the post-shower knots without breaking the hair you have worked so hard to grow.
7. Try to stay stress-free.
Stress is one of the biggest factors that can contribute to hair loss. It’s thought it can disrupt the normal hair cycle and trigger hair to enter the “fall-out phase”. Therefore, try to reduce stress in your life whilst trying to grow your hair – not as easy as that we know!
There we have it – seven top tips that will help you grow longer hair. If you need any further advice, don’t hesitate to ask one of our team at our hairdressers in Hitchin.
